| Jesus' Calling of the First Disciples at the Lake of Gennesaret in Galilee | Steve Woodbridge | | | Sunday Messages | | Downloads: | 25 | | Recorded: | 18/07/2010 | | Length: | 32 minutes | | Reference: | Luke 5:1-11 |
| | The first disciples to be called by Jesus were Simon Peter, a fisherman, and Matthew, a tax collector. Jesus changed or, rather, transformed these men, the first from a simple life of fishing and the second from life as, effectively, a social outcast, as a tax collector for the occupying Roman force. However, the men were chosen by Jesus to show the world that it was not privileged position that gained favour with God but giving up the sinful life and following the way demonstrated by Jesus. | |
| | God's Supernatural Power | Steve Woodbridge | | | Sunday Messages | | Downloads: | 42 | | Recorded: | 25/04/2010 | | Length: | 1 hour 33 minutes | | Reference: | 1 Corinthians 14:1-5 |
| | Steve looks at God's supernatural power as expressed through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He emphasizes Paul's words from his first letter to the Corinthians wherein the Corinthians have demonstrated their need for re-education in the use of the Spirit-given Gifts and the need to use the gifts in loving and Godly ways. | |
| | The Last Supper | Steve Woodbridge | | | Sunday Messages | | Downloads: | 52 | | Recorded: | 07/03/2010 | | Length: | 25 minutes | | Reference: | 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 |
| | The history, meaning and practical implications of The Last Supper are described. Jesus told His disciples to remember Him every time they broke bread, it symbolising His body which was for them. Likewise, after supper, He took a cup of (red) wine and told His disciples to remember Him every time they drank the cup. The cup represented (and established) God's new covenant, in Jesus' blood, with His chosen people and this covenant replaced the old-testament, Mosaic law. | |
